About Warnsholz

The Friedrich Warnsholz company was founded on May 14, 1914, at Gärtnerstraße 44 in Elmshorn by the married couple Friedrich and Wilhelmine Warnsholz in a residential building that had been converted from a former stable into a temporary office. The first truck was purchased in 1926, as everything had previously been done by horse-drawn carriage. In 1937, a storage area was leased on the former Kaiserstraße on the Buttermarkt, next to the current Elmshorn city market building.

Since August 21, 1948, Friedrich Warnsholz has brought his two sons, Friedrich Junior and Ernst, into the business to help him. On February 25, 1957, Friedrich Junior left the company to open his own scrap metal business. By then, the number of employees had risen to 70. The storage area was then relocated to the freight depot (Nordstrang). A baling press was purchased there.

In 1960, a new office and residential building with a weighbridge was built at Reventlowstrasse 4. From then on, the company's fortunes were managed from here. On January 8, 1963, the business was handed over from Friedrich Warnsholz to his son, Ernst Warnsholz.

In 1968, two trucks and four Tempo Matadors were deployed. Scrap and metal handling, which had previously been handled primarily by labor and a self-constructed conveyor belt, was rationalized and simplified through the purchase of tractors with hydraulic grabs. In 1968, another move took place to the north bank of the Elmshorn harbor. However, the administration remained in the office building on Reventlowstrasse. At this time, the company employed approximately 25 people. The barge "MS Thomas" was purchased, and steel scrap was now transported to the Ruhr area under its own management. A cable excavator was purchased, allowing larger loads to be moved. In February 1975, a used large shear with a cutting pressure of 350 tons was put into operation. This was purchased in Rotterdam and put into operation at great expense and after a long period of installation and difficulties. In 1975, the first dump truck was purchased, which simultaneously marked a groundbreaking decision. Containers now entered the company and the industry.

At the end of the 1970s, the goods receiving department and the office were relocated from Reventlowstrasse to the port. Operations continued successfully at the port with 19 employees until 1989.

Coinciding with the company's 75th anniversary, the company was relocated to the North III industrial park at Robert-Bosch-Strasse 8 in Elmshorn on May 1, 1989, through a takeover by Ernst-Wilhelm Mohrdiek and Hans-Werner Süllau.

In 1997, the company was sold to the ISR Group. With the sale, Ernst-Wilhelm Mohrdiek retired from the scrap metal business. Hans-Werner Süllau continued to manage the company as operations manager. Kai Friedrichs has been in charge since 2011. We currently employ 12 people.
